The World Wide Web
The Web has millions upon millions of websites. The changes are so rapid that the count is inexact. Librarians and others concerned with selecting high quality sources have set up directories to help you find the sites that are the most informative and reliable. Below is a selection of those directories:
QuickFind! Massachusetts Sites. These sites are ahrranged by subject and have been selected and reviewed by Minuteman Library Network (MLN) librarians.
ikeepbookmarks.com/WinHSLibrary. These sites are compiled by Karen Miller, the Winchester High School Librarian. She lists the best curriculum related databases and faculty recommended sources
Teen Links. Here you will find websites selected by young adult librarians in the Minuteman Library Network (MLN) and designed for students in grade six and up. The Minuteman Library Network does not necessarily recommend that all teens visit all sites. MLN urges parents to visit these pages and discuss these sites with their teens.
Web Searching
Web Searching. This is a page designed by Minuteman Library Network Librarians to explain the different ways in which you can locate information on the Web. The page includes links to the major search engines like Google and Yahoo and to some of the best directories like The Internet Public Library (soon to be renamed after completing a merger with the Librarians' Internet Index.)
