The Winchester Public Library is proud to offer 3D printing services!
3D printing is the process of making three dimensional objects from a digital file. The technology works by adding layer upon
layer of material to build up a complete object. We print in PLA, a non-toxic plastic made of corn that can be composted in industrial composting facilities.
- 3D printing is only for Winchester residents with library cards in good standing. For safety, patrons are not allowed to directly use the 3D printer – Staff will coordinate print jobs.
- Printing costs $0.05/gram, rounded up to the nearest gram. We only accept cash payments at this time.
- If you have something you would like us to print, please send your request, including the file* and your library card number, to [email protected].
- Patrons are responsible for removing supports and cleaning up their printouts. The library is unable to offer post-processing services
- Please read our 3D Printer Guidelines for additional information before submitting your requests.
For more information about 3D printing and to check out the printer, stop by the Reference Desk and talk to a librarian
*Files must be sent in either OBJ or STL formats and should be appropriately sized – The maximum print size is 250mm x 250mm x 250mm or 9.8”x9.8”x9.8″
