As we’re wrapping up a year of pandemic life, many children may still be feeling big feelings about everything they’ve experienced in 2020 and 2021. It’s been a year of grief and anxiety, loss and uncertainty, and while we may finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s always a good idea to check in with ourselves and how we’re doing.
Helping children practice mindfulness, or cultivating an awareness of our feelings, thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment, can be a wonderful technique to process all the changes we’ve experienced this year. Below you’ll find a booklist to help introduce this concept and practice to children – and we hope grown-ups may find some comfort in these titles too!
