June is Pride Month. Did you know that it is in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan? According to the Library of Congress, the first Pride march was held in New York City on June 28th, 1970 on the one year anniversary of Stonewall Uprising. Read here more about the Stonewall Uprising. About three to five thousand marchers belonging to the LGBTQ+ community participated. They marched for equal rights, and to raise awareness against discrimination.
