It’s another beautiful summer day, you want to be outside–maybe find a playground, basketball court, or place to picnic. Where can you go? A local park! July is Park and Recreation month, a time to draw attention not only to the beauty and fun of parks, but to really highlight how parks benefit individuals and communities. According to the National Recreation and Park Association, parks build equity, community, and climate-readiness in addition to promoting overall physical and mental health and wellbeing. Residents of Winchester know and use the town’s parks, which offer many programs for all ages. (Check out the Winchester Recreation Department website for their current offerings). Here are some books that can help you learn about and appreciate parks and programs near and far, and the people who make it all possible.
