NaNoWriMo: Begin Writing Your Story

| |

National Novel Writing Month began in 1999 with one goal: to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. Since then, each November, thousands of people from all over the world have stepped up to the challenge. It’s not too late to participate this year! Visit www.nanowrimo.org to sign up, and you can begin working on your writing project right away. You’ll be able to keep track of your progress, join groups and get to know other writers, plus you’ll have access to a number of writing resources to help get you started.

Need a quiet place to write? You can get in some quality writing time at the library. We have study rooms that you can reserve so you’ll have a private space to work for up to three hours without interruption. There are also plenty of tables throughout the library where you can sit and write for as long as you’d like. If you’re new to writing or need a refresher we have a variety of resources that you can check out. See the list below for some books on writing available in Winchester or visit our catalog to see what other libraries have on their shelves.

National Novel Writing Month has produced some incredible success stories. Bestselling books like The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen, and The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer all started as NaNoWriMo projects, so let’s get to writing!
We can’t wait to read what you create.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter where you can find weekly writing prompts for the month of November.
