Learn to Draw

|

Almost everyone starts out drawing.  As children we draw to our heart’s content, but somewhere along the line most of us get discouraged and only a few continue drawing through their lives.  How many of us want to learn, but don’t know where to begin?  The good news is you can learn to draw at any age.  Drawing is a skill to be practiced, not an in-born talent. Everyone can learn (or re-learn) to draw and your library is here to help

The Winchester Public Library offers tons of books to help you learn to draw.  Below is a small selection of what we have in our library and with your library card you have access to everything available throughout the Minuteman Library Network, too.  In addition to a gigantic selection of books, we also offer a variety of video courses on drawing that will help you build your skills and train your artist’s eye.  All the courses are provided free of charge through your library.

LinkedIn Learning offers over 5700 video courses on creative, business, and technology topics, including 50 drawing courses. The drawing courses range from complete beginner all the way up to advanced techniques, so you can explore the full range of drawing (and hundreds of other topics) with LinkedIn Learning.

Creativebug is a video resource for creative pursuits.  From drawing to painting, fiber arts to jewelry making, Creativebug has a course for nearly every creative interest. Classes are taught by professional artists and are project based, so you can pick a project that looks interesting to you and jump right into learning the skills and techniques to make it happen.
