During October, which is Mental Health Awareness month, we wanted to share a list of picture books that could serve as conversation starters between parent and child about feelings. One aspect of mental wellness is the social-emotional skill of recognizing emotions. It can help young children understand what they are experiencing, as well as help them develop empathy for others. While you read these books together, maybe you and your child will share times you’ve each felt a certain emotion, or maybe you’ll practice different ways to calm down when feeling those big feelings.
